In response to our recent IRB User Survey, many of you told us that you would appreciate examples of common exemption applications using the non-protocol-based application type (nPBA). In response, we’re excited to share examples with guidance for three common exemption applications we receive: health care records research, use of residual biospecimens, and surveys/interviews.
Have questions like:
- Which exemption criteria should I select?
- Does my data fall within the definition of “coded” or “anonymous”?
- Where do I describe audio or video recording of interviews?
- What materials does the IRB need to review?
- What considerations should I address for special populations?
