The IRB Office is working on guidance for study teams about including people with disabilities in research. This can include those with hearing and visual impairments, impaired decision-making capacity, low literacy, or other categories not specifically listed here. Investigators may be asking research questions specifically pertaining to these populations, or may be working to make their studies more equitable by providing appropriate accommodations.
If you have techniques for or experiences including people from these populations as participants in research studies, we’d love to hear from you! You can tell us about things that have worked well for your group, or things that went poorly or were not well-received. Our goal is to make functional guidance that reflects the expertise and representation of the UW-Madison community.
If you have something to share, please tell us you’re interested by filling out this Qualtrics survey.
